Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use MAINS:

• Account information: email address, name, and password (hashed)
• Job data: site addresses, client names, design points, cable segments, measurements, pricing, and quotes you create
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and performance metrics (collected via analytics — see section 3)
• Device information: browser type, operating system, and screen resolution

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the design tool
• To save and sync your jobs across devices
• To improve the tool based on usage patterns
• To communicate product updates and changes
• To process payments (when paid plans are introduced)
• To comply with legal obligations

3. Third-Party Services

MAINS uses the following third-party services. Each may collect data according to their own privacy policies:

• PostHog (Analytics) — We use PostHog to understand how people use MAINS. PostHog tracks page views and feature usage events, and associates them with your user account. PostHog uses cookies and localStorage on your device for persistence. Analytics data is sent to PostHog's servers in the United States. You can opt out of analytics via the cookie consent banner. Subject to PostHog's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic (AI Proposals) — When you generate an AI proposal, job data including site addresses, client names, pricing, and technical specifications is sent to Anthropic's API (Claude) for processing. Anthropic does not use API data to train its models. Data is processed in the United States. Subject to Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• Google Maps Platform — Satellite imagery, geocoding, Street View, and address autocomplete are loaded live from Google. No satellite imagery is stored by MAINS. Subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• NSW Spatial Services — cadastral (property boundary) data. Public government data.
• Supabase — Authentication and database hosting. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure (AWS Sydney region) for Australian data residency where available. Subject to Supabase's Privacy Policy.
• Stripe (when payments are introduced) — payment processing. We do not store credit card details.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is hosted on Australian infrastructure (Supabase / AWS Sydney region). We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, row-level security policies, and regular security audits.

Some data is processed overseas as described in section 3 — analytics data (PostHog, US) and AI proposal data (Anthropic, US). Core job data and account information remain stored in Australia.

5. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), you have the right to:

• Access your personal information
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your data
• Opt out of analytics tracking via the cookie consent banner
• Opt out of marketing communications
• Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC)

Account deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data from Account Settings at any time.

6. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage for the following purposes:

• Essential: Authentication and session management (Supabase auth cookies)
• Analytics: PostHog uses cookies and localStorage to track usage across sessions. These are only active if you accept analytics via the cookie consent banner.
• Preferences: Your cookie consent choice and app settings are stored in localStorage

Google Maps may also set its own cookies as part of its service. We do not use advertising or retargeting cookies.

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (via Account Settings), we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a notice in the tool. Your continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
